History:  In 1935, a committee from Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, purchased the Hoertz Farm in Parma, Ohio.  Since this area was considered "way out in the country", the committee developed a picnic grove and cemetery on the Hoertz property.  In 1964 a decision was made to build a new church on the site, as well.  By the end of 1966, both the St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church and rectory were completed at a cost over $600,000.00.  The first Liturgy was celebrated on Christmas, 1966.  The church was dedicated and blessed on May 28, 1967 by the late Metropolitan Ambrose Senyshyn, OSBM and concelebrated by the late Rev. Mitred Dmytro Gresko (and other clergy).  St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church remained a mission church until 1972 when it became an independent parish and the late Metropolitan Ambrose Senyshyn appointed the now late Rev. Msgr. Leo Timkiw as the first pastor.  (A copy of additional history, significant events and special occasions can be obtained through the rectory office.)  The style of the church is a combination of old Ukrainian church architecture and the modern concept of space.  There are two round gold-gilded cupolas, stained glass windows and mosaic icons and an iconostas.

Today:  A small, but active church St. Andrew UCC currently has approximately 300 registered families.  Pastor, Fr. Ihor Kasiyan and Deacon Michael Kulick along with other clergy provide spiritual guidance alongside a ministry of administration and leadership.  Lay organizations (Pyrohy Group, Women's League, Adult Group, B*STARS) and other Committees (PAC, Hall Committee, Cemetery Committee and Finance Committee) help with the physical care of the church, sponsor fundraising events and provide for many parish social activities.

40th Anniversary Committee:  The 40th Anniversary Committee has been preparing for this special occasion since 2003 and we thank them for their dedication and service.  Donations from our generous parishioners and supporters have enabled the Committee to make many improvements to the church including, new church and hall signs, new entrance doors, new restroom facility, Sacristy remodel and the seal-coating & striping of property parking lots - just to name a few.  More projects are under consideration to further beautify the church and surrounding property.   Donations will continue to be accepted through March 2007.  Arrangements can be made by contacting the Rectory Office at 440/843-9149.   May God bless all of our supporters with health and happiness for many, many years!
